BBQ RIB & CHILI COOKOFF

On Sunday, September 22, first responders and local chefs will converge on the Home EXPO to compete for South Valley’s Best BBQ Ribs & Chili – with the proceeds going to support local food banks.
Starting at 8:00am in the Convention Center Kitchen, the teams and chefs gather to start prepping. At 10am the cook-off moves center stage to the tents located on the grass area in front of the Show Entrance.
Public donations of $10 each - get the holder FREE entrance to see all of the booths at the home show, the privilege to sample the BBQ ribs and chili - and then vote for your favorites - and entry into all of the door prizes being offered. Public sampling will begin at approximately 2pm and the drawings will be held at the conclusion of voting about 3pm. Your contribution will help us to raise $1000 to support local food banks.
This year once again Reedley Fire Department - who took 1st Place for South Valley’s Best Chili last year - will face the Visalia Firefighters Association and AMR Visalia.
Our local chefs will include Karl Merten, owner of Cafe 225 (Visalia), James Pacini, Instructor at the Institute of Technology's Culinary Academy, and the Untamed Chef, Albert Hernandez.
In addition to public voting, we will also have a panel of judges including representatives from the Disneyland Resort (Anaheim), KSEE24, CBS47, Visalia Times-Delta and Fresno Bee newspapers, Xfinity/Comcast, Family Health Care Network, Visalia Holiday Inn, and T-Roxels Bistro Blends.

Call the Visalia Convention Center at (559) 713-4000 and request to have a ticket held for you to pick up by Friday, 9/20.
Door prizes will include gift baskets from Bravo Farms and Comcast/Xfinity. Product Packs from T-Roxel Bistro Blends, Central Valley Healthy Snacks, and T&S Distributing. Glick's Meat Market and Cafe 225 will also be offering gift cards.
